GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two police officers serving as volunteer firefighters rescued a man from a burning home early Wednesday morning.
Galloway Township Police received a report of an active structure fire on the 100 block of Waterview Drive in the Smithville section at approximately 3:52 a.m. on Dec. 10.
Upon arrival, officers located the source of the fire and numerous Galloway Township Fire personnel responded to control the scene.
As Oceanville Fire Company arrived, Officer Nicholas Stewart and Officer John Parker entered the residence.
The officers quickly located the homeowner and pulled him from the burning residence.
The victim was transported via helicopter to Temple Burn Center where he remains in intensive care.
Several agencies remained on scene while the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office investigates the incident.
