OGDENSBURG, NY — A joint investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of an Ogdensburg man on numerous child sex charges.
Christopher R. Fifield, 28, of Ogdensburg, was arrested following a search warrant execution at his residence on Dec. 9.
The investigation began in November when the Village of Gouverneur Police Department received information that a child less than 13 years of age was solicited for sex via electronic means in Gouverneur.
The investigation led authorities to a residence on New York Avenue in Ogdensburg.
The Village of Gouverneur Police Department and the City of Ogdensburg Police Department conducted a joint investigation with assistance from the United States Homeland Security Investigations, New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
The search warrant execution revealed numerous electronic devices containing child pornography, according to police.
The Ogdensburg Police Department charged Fifield with one count of promoting sexual performance of a child less than 17 years of age, a class D felony, 11 counts of possessing sexual performance by child, class E felonies, and nine counts of possessing obscene sexual performance by child, class E felonies.
The Gouverneur Police Department charged Fifield with one count of criminal solicitation in the third degree, a class E felony, and one count of patronizing a prostitute in the first degree involving a child less than 11 years of age, a class D felony.
Fifield was arraigned in Ogdensburg City Court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail.
