ENFIELD, CT — Police arrested a former Subway employee in connection with a robbery at the restaurant on Dec. 9.
Officers responded to the Subway at approximately 11:26 a.m. for a panic alarm activation.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a robbery had just occurred and the suspect had fled the scene.
The suspect, described as a black male wearing a cream colored hoodie, implied that he was in possession of a weapon and told an employee he would not harm her if she complied.
The suspect emptied the cash register and fled toward Thompsonville.
Through investigation, police identified a former Subway employee as a possible suspect.
The suspect was located on Lincoln Street in Enfield and confessed to the offense, providing information that only the suspect would have known.
Police arrested Thomas Sparzo, 29, of Enfield.
Sparzo was charged with robbery in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree and breach of peace in the second degree.
He was held on $51,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 10.
Sparzo had been arrested for a robbery at a McDonald’s on Nov. 28 and had been released from Department of Correction custody on Dec. 8.
