NEW HARTFORD, NY — A 15-year-old was charged with burglary and petit larceny after being caught stealing at Target on Saturday.
New Hartford police officers assigned to the Sangertown Mall detail responded to the store after the juvenile was caught stealing.
An investigation revealed the juvenile had been arrested previously at Target for petit larceny earlier this year.
The juvenile was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
The juvenile, whose name cannot be released due to age, was transported to the New Hartford Police Department and processed.
The juvenile was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges at the Oneida County Probation Department and was released to a parent.
The New Hartford Police Department said it intends to investigate further to determine if there is any criminal responsibility upon the parent.
Additional charges may be filed if warranted.
