CHESTER, NY — State Police arrested a woman on a second-degree burglary charge on Dec. 3.
Troopers responded to a home in Chester, Warren County, at about 9:46 a.m. for reports of a burglary in progress.
The investigation determined Erica M. Hitchcock-Smith, 42, of Chester, allegedly entered the unoccupied residence without permission.
The homeowner returned home and reportedly located Hitchcock-Smith inside the residence and instructed her to leave.
The victim determined that items had been stolen and contacted law enforcement.
Hitchcock-Smith was arrested nearby at her home and transported to State Police Chestertown for processing.
She was then arraigned at the Warren County Centralized Arraignment Part Court where she was remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,000 cash, $4,000 bond, or $5,000 partially secured bond.
