SOMERVILLE, MA — Several residents have reported becoming victims of identity fraud in recent months, according to the Somerville Police Department.
The fraud specifically involves fraudulent applications for FAFSA, or Federal Student Aid.
In these cases, victims had never applied for FAFSA and had no connection to the schools listed in the fraudulent applications.
Police are urging residents to remain vigilant by regularly reviewing their credit reports and staying alert to potential scams.
Anyone who notices suspicious activity should report it immediately to police.
