HARTLAND, VT — A transient woman faces multiple drug charges following an October motor vehicle crash investigation.
Aleigha Sykes, 32, was arrested Dec. 5 in the lobby of the Springfield Police Department on charges of trafficking fentanyl, possession of more than 2.5 grams of cocaine, DUI drug, negligent operation and an active arrest warrant.
Deputy Craig Watrous of the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department responded to a reported motor vehicle crash at Route 12 and Mace Hill Road on Oct. 30 at approximately 3:19 p.m.
Signs of drug activity were observed at the scene, and the vehicle was seized pending a search warrant, according to the sheriff’s department.
A search warrant was executed, resulting in the seizure of 15 grams of crack cocaine and 2 grams of fentanyl.
Sykes was also arrested on an active $50,000 warrant.
She was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $60,000 bail.
Sykes is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 8 at 12:30 p.m. in Windsor criminal court.
