WATERFORD, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 18 between Remick Road and Mad Brook Road at 12:25 a.m. on Dec. 6.
Police said Devlyn Martin, 18, of Warwick, Rhode Island, was driving a 2013 Kia Optima south on Route 18 when the vehicle crossed the center double yellow line into the northbound lane.
Jordan Robinson, 19, of Waterford, was driving a 2013 Ford F-250 north and attempted to avoid the collision, but both vehicles collided on their driver’s sides in a sideswipe manner, police said.
Martin’s vehicle came to rest in the center of Route 18 several hundred feet from the initial point of impact, according to police.
Robinson’s vehicle dropped off the west shoulder of the roadway and overturned, landing on its roof, police said.
A passenger in Robinson’s vehicle, Dalton Avery, 18, was also involved in the crash.
All three occupants were wearing seat belts and sustained suspected minor injuries, police said.
All occupants were assessed and cleared at the scene by rescue personnel.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
Weather and road conditions were clear at the time of the crash, though the roadway was dark and unlit, police said.
Vermont State Police were assisted by Waterford Fire Department, Calex Ambulance and Trahan Towing.
