DIXMONT, ME — Two people were injured in a serious traffic crash on Route 9 at the Dixmont and Newburgh town line Friday night.
The Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a report of the crash at 7:10 p.m.
Deputies arrived to find a rental pickup truck towing an enclosed trailer off the road.
The truck traveled along Route 9, striking several rocks before hitting a utility pole.
Both occupants were transported to a hospital for injuries sustained during the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Route 9 was reduced to one lane during the investigation.
Dixmont and Newburgh fire departments responded to the scene along with Newport and Hampden ambulances.
