Man arrested on domestic assault charges in Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a local man on multiple charges following a reported family fight late Thursday night.

Police received a report of a family fight on Weston Heights Road at 11:52 p.m. on December 4.

An investigation revealed that Joshua Holmes, 28, of Rockingham, had assaulted a household member, threatened to cause serious bodily injury and recklessly endangered the household member, according to police.

Police also learned that Holmes was in possession of firearms after having been deemed prohibited from possessing firearms due to a past violation of an abuse prevention order.

Holmes was located on December 5 at a residence on Pleasant Valley Road in Rockingham.

He was arrested and transported to the Vermont State Police barracks in Westminster for processing.

Holmes was charged with first degree aggravated domestic assault, criminal threatening, reckless endangerment and violation of an abuse prevention order.

He appeared before the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on December 8 at 12:30 p.m.

Holmes was ordered held without bail at Southern State Correctional Facility.
