NEW HARTFORD, NY — Police have arrested three people on multiple felony charges following separate investigations into incidents at local businesses.
Phil Beretta, 61, of Yorkville, was arrested Nov. 26 at approximately 2:30 p.m. after police responded to a reported larceny at Lowe’s on Middle Settlement Road.
Officers and store loss prevention determined Beretta had entered the store while barred from the premises and stole merchandise.
Beretta was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and is being held.
Rebecca Driver, 30, of New Hartford, was arrested Dec. 1 at approximately 12:00 a.m. following a reported robbery at the 7-11 Convenience Store at 9272 Kellogg Road.
Police determined Driver allegedly used physical force to attempt to steal cigarettes from a sales associate by entering the store and going behind the sales counter where she became confrontational.
Driver was located with assistance from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody without incident.
She was charged with attempted third-degree robbery, a class E felony.
Driver was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and released with an appearance ticket.
Avery Butler, 19, of Utica, was arrested Dec. 4 following a two-month investigation into forged financial documents.
In late September, GPO Federal Credit Union reported to police that an unknown person deposited $2,000 worth of United States Postal Money Orders at a GPO branch in New Hartford that were later determined to be counterfeit.
Investigators identified Butler as being responsible and obtained an arrest warrant.
Butler was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, a class C felony, and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.
Butler was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and arraigned in Town of New Hartford Court, then remanded to the Oneida County Jail on bail.
Butler will face additional charges by Utica Police.
