BROOKLINE, MA — A Chicago man has been charged in connection with the exploitation of a 14-year-old girl, according to the Brookline Police Department.
The department, working with the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, announced the charges Tuesday.
Police were notified in July that an individual claiming to be a 17-year-old boy named “John” was engaging in sexually explicit communications with the minor victim via Snapchat.
The individual was later identified as Rogers, according to police.
A review of cell phone data allegedly revealed numerous explicit communications from Rogers in which he allegedly coerced the minor to engage in sexually explicit acts and demanded they be documented by photo or video.
Rogers also allegedly discussed kidnapping the minor or having the minor run away in his communications, police said.
The case is being prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative created by the Department of Justice in 2006 to protect children from exploitation and abuse.
