SCHENECTADY, NY — State Police assigned to the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit arrested a Rutland man on weapon charges following a traffic stop on Monday.
Jayshawn Clemente, 25, of Rutland, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and vehicle and traffic law violations.
Troopers stopped a vehicle on Edison Avenue at about 10:42 a.m. for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
The driver was identified as Clemente.
The investigation discovered an illegally possessed loaded handgun with a large capacity ammunition feeding device.
Clemente was arrested at the scene and transported to State Police Latham for processing.
He was arraigned at Schenectady City Court where he was remanded to the Schenectady County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or a $50,000 bond.
