GATES, NY — A Rochester man faces felony charges after allegedly robbing two gas stations at gunpoint Dec. 4.
The Gates Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at the Quick Fill Gas Station at 851 Howard Road at approximately 6:38 p.m.
The suspect entered the store, displayed a firearm and demanded cash from the register.
A similar robbery occurred just prior to the Gates incident at a gas station on Long Pond Road in the Town of Greece, involving a suspect and vehicle matching the same description.
Officers broadcast information from both incidents to law enforcement agencies throughout Monroe County.
Members of the Rochester Police Department located the suspect vehicle operating on Lyell Avenue in the City of Rochester at 7:14 p.m.
After a brief pursuit, the vehicle crashed and officers took the suspect into custody without further incident.
Police identified the suspect as Juwan Baldwin, 32, of Rochester.
Investigators from the Gates Police Department and detectives from the Greece Police Department worked collaboratively to recover the suspect vehicle and evidence linked to both robberies.
The Gates Police Department charged Baldwin with robbery in the first degree, a Class A felony, and criminal use of a firearm in the first degree, a Class B felony.
Baldwin remains in the custody of the Monroe County Jail.
