GLASSBORO, NJ — Police arrested five people following a fight that left two victims injured, one struck with a glass bottle.
An officer was flagged down by a resident in the unit block of East New Street at approximately 12:46 a.m. on Nov. 16, according to the Glassboro Police Department.
The resident reported a possible fight, and the officer observed an active fight upon arrival and requested additional assistance.
The suspects fled on foot as officers arrived on scene, and several officers initiated foot pursuits.
Three suspects were arrested for fleeing and two additional subjects were arrested for obstructing the arrests of the fleeing suspects.
Four suspects were transported to headquarters for processing and released, while a fifth was transported to Jefferson of Washington Township and subsequently transferred to Jefferson in Philadelphia due to injuries he sustained in the initial fight prior to fleeing.
An investigation revealed two injured victims that required hospital treatment.
A weapon, specifically a glass 1800 tequila bottle, was used to strike one of the victims in the back of the head, causing a laceration requiring eight staples.
Witnesses stated during the on-scene investigation that a male brandished a firearm, but further investigation failed to corroborate that claim.
Police determined that a 16-year-old male from Pilesgrove initiated the fight and caused injuries to one of the victims.
Anthony Ford-Dale, 19, of Pilesgrove, was identified as the suspect who assaulted the other victim with the bottle.
The guardian for the juvenile was charged with the borough ordinance for juvenile and parent responsibility.
Ford-Dale was initially charged on a summons and released, but additional charges were signed on a warrant after the investigation revealed his involvement in aggravated assault.
Ford-Dale turned himself in to Glassboro police on Dec. 1 and was lodged in Salem County Jail.
