Woman arrested on burglary, larceny charges in Penn Yan

PENN YAN, NY — Police arrested a woman accused of breaking into a home and stealing a dog.

Colleen Fiorilla, 32, of Dundee, was charged with burglary in the second degree and grand larceny in the fourth degree.

Police received a report of a stolen dog and began investigating.

Fiorilla allegedly unlawfully entered the home of a village resident and intentionally stole their dog before fleeing in a vehicle.

Penn Yan Police and Yates County deputies later contacted Fiorilla at her residence, where she refused to speak with law enforcement.

A short time later, Yates County deputies observed Fiorilla attempting to leave her residence in a vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

During the stop, the stolen dog was found in Fiorilla’s possession.

Fiorilla was taken into custody and turned over to Penn Yan Police.

The dog was unharmed and safely returned to its owner.

Fiorilla was transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment.
