Three arrested on drug trafficking charges in Auburn

AUBURN, ME — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Auburn Police Department arrested three people on aggravated drug trafficking charges following a year-long investigation.

Brianna Reny, 26, of Auburn was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs and trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs.

Akil Charles, 31, of Brockton, Massachusetts was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs and trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs.

William Tardiff, 57, of New Gloucester was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs.

Agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency began investigating a drug trafficking organization in December 2024 after receiving information and community tips from local law enforcement partners.

The investigation identified a main trafficking location in Auburn.

A search warrant was obtained on Dec. 1 for Reny’s apartment at 257 Turner St. in Auburn.

While conducting surveillance at the residence, agents identified a vehicle connected to the organization leaving the address and initiated a traffic stop.

Tardiff was the operator and was found in possession of 179 grams of suspected cocaine.

Tardiff was arrested and is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 cash bail pending an initial appearance.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Maine State Police Tactical Team executed the search warrant on the residence.

Charles was captured while fleeing out a window and Reny was detained without incident.

A search of the apartment resulted in the seizure of 1,244 grams of cocaine, 540 grams of fentanyl, 53 grams of methamphetamine and other items indicative of drug trafficking.

Approximately $18,200 in suspected drug proceeds were located alongside the drugs.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $75,000.

Reny is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 cash bail pending an initial appearance.

Charles is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail without bail as he was out on bail for robbery.

Maine State Police, Auburn Police Department, Lisbon Police Department, Lewiston Police Department and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the service of the search warrant and year-long investigation.
