MENTZ, NY — A 57-year-old man was arrested on domestic violence charges following an incident at a residence in the town.
Richard A. Dixon, of Mentz, was charged with criminal mischief in the 3rd degree and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Deputies responded to an address in the town at approximately 5:43 p.m. on Nov. 22 for a reported domestic violence incident.
During the investigation, deputies determined that Dixon had broken a desktop computer and placed his hands around the victim’s neck, applying pressure after an argument.
Dixon was arrested at 6:27 p.m. and transported to the Public Safety Building, where he was processed and turned over to Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment.
Bail was set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond, and a full stay-away order of protection was issued.
Dixon posted bail the following morning and reappeared in Mentz Town Court on Nov. 25 at noon.
