AUBURN, MA — Three people were arrested Wednesday after a shoplifting incident at TJ Maxx that led police to discover the suspects’ vehicle was stolen.
TJ Maxx Asset Protection notified the Auburn Police Department at about 1:27 p.m. that a shoplifter had left the store and jumped into a red Chevy sedan with Massachusetts plates.
The vehicle was last seen taking a right onto Route 12.
Detective Sergeant Daniel Lamoreaux and Officer Alex Ortiz-Torres located the vehicle on Southbridge Street and conducted a traffic stop.
Auburn Police Dispatch advised that the car was stolen.
Officers recovered 11 stolen TJ Maxx items worth nearly $300.
Robbin Wilson, 34, of Marlborough, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Anthony Williams, 42, of Leicester, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and receiving stolen property under $1,200.
Michael St. Jean, 42, of Worcester, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
St. Jean also had two outstanding warrants for assault with a dangerous weapon and shoplifting.
The car was returned to its owner, and the stolen merchandise was returned to TJ Maxx.
