EAST FISHKILL, NY — A Brooklyn man was arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway on Dec. 1.
Members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit stopped a vehicle traveling northbound on the parkway at approximately 12:27 p.m. for multiple violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The operator was identified as Kasein Deleston, 52, of Brooklyn.
State Police K-9 Vinn conducted an exterior scan of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.
A subsequent search led to the discovery of a hidden compartment containing approximately 162.6 grams of cocaine.
Deleston was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, a class B felony.
He was arraigned in East Fishkill Town Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 5 at 2 p.m.
