GENEVA, NY — A high school assistant principal faces criminal charges following an alleged incident involving inappropriate physical contact with a student.
James J. Nunez, 50, of Geneva, was arrested Tuesday at approximately 4 p.m. by members of the City of Geneva Police Department’s Road Patrol Division.
Nunez is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, and harassment in the second degree, a violation.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred Nov. 18 at Geneva High School, where police allege Nunez subjected a student to inappropriate and unwanted physical contact.
Nunez serves as an assistant principal at the Geneva City School District.
He was processed at the Geneva Police Department and transported to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.
Police said they believe this is an isolated incident and no other students are involved.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Geneva Police Department is working with the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office and the Geneva Central School District.
