CAMBRIDGE, ME — The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fatal fire that occurred at 133 Andrew Ham Road on Monday.
Fire investigators responded at approximately 5:10 p.m. Dec. 1 at the request of the Cambridge Fire Department.
During initial fire suppression efforts, fire crews located a deceased individual inside the home.
The victim is believed to be homeowner Stuart Howe, 75, of Cambridge.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta will perform an autopsy and confirm positive identification.
Fire departments from Cambridge, Sangerville and Harmony responded to the scene.
Crews battled cold weather and slippery conditions to extinguish the fire.
An excavator was brought to the scene to aid in suppression efforts.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
