Man arrested on sexual abuse charges in Marcy

MARCY, NY — A man was arrested following a months-long investigation into allegations of sexual offenses involving a female.

Joshua Bartlett, 49, of Utica, was taken into custody on Dec. 1 by State Police.

Bartlett was charged with three counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, a class D felony, and three counts of forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor.

The investigation began in June when State Police received a report of a possible sexual assault.

Members of the New York State Police Marcy Bureau of Criminal Investigation conducted an investigation in coordination with the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.

All evidence and testimony were presented to a grand jury in Oneida County.

The Oneida County District Attorney’s Office requested an indictment, which was granted.

Bartlett was located by members of the New York State Police Marcy Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Troop D Violent Felony Warrant Squad and Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Bartlett was transported to State Police Marcy, arraigned in Oneida County Court and remanded to Oneida County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash, $300,000 bond or $900,000 partially secured bond.
