SOUTHBRIDGE, MA — A 14-year-old was arrested and multiple illegally possessed firearms were seized after police responded to a reported threat against a residence.
Officers responded at approximately 11:23 p.m. on Nov. 6 to a report from a resident who stated that she and her family had received credible threats that their home was going to be targeted in a shooting.
The caller also reported that family members had just been robbed at gunpoint and that the suspects were threatening further violence.
Officers increased patrols in the area of the residence and observed three male subjects walking.
Officers attempted to have conversation with the three subjects and two complied.
One of the subjects, a juvenile, attempted to flee on foot and was quickly apprehended a short distance away.
During a search of the area where the juvenile fled, officers located a firearm with a defaced serial number, a magazine and numerous rounds of ammunition.
Officers sought and received consent from the juvenile’s parent to search their residence.
During the search, officers located additional firearms, two of which were loaded, along with ammunition and other evidence.
None of the firearms were lawfully possessed and two were “ghost guns” with no traceable serial numbers.
The 14-year-old juvenile was charged with being in possession of a loaded firearm without a license to carry, with being in possession of a firearm without a license to carry, with possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number (3 counts), with possession of a large capacity feeding device (3 counts) and with unlawful possession of ammunition (2 counts).
The juvenile was held on $5,000 cash bail and was later transported to a DYS facility pending arraignment.
A second 14-year-old juvenile will be charged with being in possession of a firearm without a license to carry.
A 22-year-old male will also be charged with numerous felonies.
