UNION VALE, NY — The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred on Clove Road on Friday.
The crash happened at approximately 6:40 p.m. near Mack Road.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck operated by Ryan E. Nichols, 25, of Poughquag, was traveling southbound on Clove Road when the operator lost control and the vehicle struck a tree.
Nichols suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Unsafe speed appears to be a contributing factor at this time.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office and Town of Union Vale Fire Department.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit.
