CAPE VINCENT, NY — State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday night.
Scott F. Bourcy, 54, of Cape Vincent, was killed in the crash at the intersection of State Route 12E and County Route 8 in the town of Cape Vincent.
State Police responded to the scene at approximately 9:32 p.m. on Nov. 29.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali was traveling eastbound on State Route 12E when Bourcy, the sole occupant, failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the south side of the roadway.
Bourcy attempted to correct the vehicle but struck a culvert and was unable to regain control.
The vehicle then struck an embankment at the intersection of County Route 8 and State Route 12E, overturned, and came to rest on the south shoulder of State Route 12E.
Bourcy was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
State Police were assisted by Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Service, Clayton Fire Department, and Cape Vincent EMS and Fire Department.
