Man cited for retail theft in Lyndonville

LYNDONVILLE, VT — A Burke man has been cited for retail theft after allegedly using fraudulent barcodes to underpay for merchandise at a local store.

The Lyndonville Police Department received a complaint from a merchant on Nov. 12 at 10:27 a.m. regarding thefts at a store located at 6585 Memorial Drive.

The merchant reported that a man had entered the store multiple times over the prior month and scanned low-value UPC barcodes to avoid paying full price for more expensive merchandise.

The total loss was reported as $155.21.

Pierre Chenard, 62, of Burke, was cited into Caledonia Superior Court on Nov. 15.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 26 at 8:30 a.m.

Officer Gerrish investigated the case.
