LOWELL, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a man on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle crash on Hazen Notch Road on Nov. 23.
Troopers, along with the Lowell Fire Department and Newport EMS, responded to the crash at approximately 6:05 a.m.
Police met with the operator of the vehicle, Steven Rice, 35, of Lowell, who showed indicators of impairment.
Following an investigation, Rice was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to the Derby Barracks for processing.
Rice was later transported to Northern State Correctional Facility for detox.
He was issued a citation for DUI and is scheduled to appear at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 at Criminal Division, Vermont Superior Court, Newport.
This is Rice’s second DUI offense.
