Man arrested on drug charges in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, MA — A Holyoke man was arrested early Friday after police responded to a report of an armed suspect at a gas station.

Santiago Soltren-Ramirez, 37, of Holyoke, was taken into custody following a traffic stop near the intersection of Spring Street and Clemente Street.

Officer Samuel Rodriguez was on patrol in the area of 330 Main Street around 3 a.m. when he was informed that a suspect in the area may be armed with a gun.

The suspect, later identified as Soltren-Ramirez, was inside a vehicle at a gas station.

The vehicle was not registered or insured, and Soltren-Ramirez had a suspended license.

Officer James Kennedy arrived to assist.

Soltren-Ramirez drove away from the gas station and officers conducted a traffic stop.

During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered drug paraphernalia, a half-pack containing approximately 50 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl, three open half-packs of suspected heroin/fentanyl containing approximately 45 bags, cocaine and marijuana.

Officers also recovered a CO2 replica firearm which shoots BBs.

Soltren-Ramirez is charged with possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, subsequent offense; possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug; possession of a Class A drug, subsequent offense; possession of a Class B drug; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked license; uninsured motor vehicle; no inspection sticker; and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked registration.
