Juvenile crashes into guardrail in Swanton

SWANTON, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 89 North that occurred Sunday morning.

Troopers from the St. Albans Barracks responded to the crash near mile marker 120.2 at 8:23 a.m.

A 16-year-old driver from Alburgh was operating a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek that crashed into a guardrail.

The vehicle became partially hung up on the guardrail, causing damage to both the vehicle and the guardrail.

The juvenile operator was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

EMS evaluated the driver as a precaution.

The vehicle was removed from the roadway.

A family member provided transportation for the operator.

Police suspect inattention caused the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.

The Swanton Fire Department, Amcare Ambulance Service and TDI Towing assisted at the scene.
