OSWEGO, NY — An overnight fire caused major damage to Cheap Seats Bar & Grille on Hillside Avenue.
The Oswego Fire Department was notified of a fire alarm activation at 3:10 a.m. Sunday.
Firefighters arrived shortly after and reported smoke showing and a working fire in the rear of the structure.
First and second alarm assignments were filled, bringing in additional resources to the scene.
Oswego firefighters operated multiple handlines inside the structure to extinguish the large volume of fire.
Due to difficult fire conditions, a third alarm assignment was filled to bring in additional resources to cover the city and surrounding areas for other emergencies.
Fire suppression and overhaul efforts were completed by 6 a.m., and mutual aid companies were released shortly after.
The building sustained major interior damage to the area of origin in the rear of the structure.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury at the incident.
The Fulton Fire Department handled RIT duties at the scene.
Firefighters from the Oswego Town VFD and the Minetto VFD also assisted at the scene.
The Oswego Fire Department was assisted by the Oswego Police Department, National Grid, City of Oswego Code Enforcement, City of Oswego DPW, Menter Ambulance and Oswego County Fire.
Several area fire departments were moved to assist with covering other jurisdictions, including Volney VFD, Hannibal VFD and the Granby VFD.
The City of Oswego Fire Investigation Team remained on the scene Sunday morning.
