NEW HAVEN COUNTY, CT — A Derby man was arrested following a fire behind Roseland Apizza on Nov. 28.
Jose Guardiano, 26, of Derby, was charged with second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace.
Derby police dispatch received several 911 calls at 6:24 p.m. reporting a shed on fire behind the restaurant.
The fire department extinguished the fire, which was concentrated to a shed adjacent to the restaurant.
Officers reviewed surveillance video from the restaurant, which captured the suspect igniting the shed before leaving the scene.
At approximately 7 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a suspicious male attempting to enter an apartment building at 45 Minerva St.
Responding officers located the individual and recognized him as the same person observed lighting the fire in the surveillance footage.
Guardiano was detained and subsequently taken into custody.
He was held on a $100,000 bond.
