GALWAY, NY — A 54-year-old woman was shot at a residence on Consaul Road on Thursday evening and fled to a neighboring home, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Responding units received conflicting reports about whether the suspect, a 63-year-old man, had barricaded himself inside the residence or fled into the woods.
Officers established a perimeter and secured the victim so she could be treated by EMS.
She was flown to Albany Medical Center by Life Net with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Saratoga County Special Operations Team, New York State Police SORT and drone units from several agencies were dispatched to the scene.
The male suspect was later found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Saratoga Springs Police, New York State Parks Police, Galway Fire, Galway EMS, Saratoga Springs Fire and Life Net.
The Mechanicville Police Department, Waterford Police Department and Ballston Spa Police Department provided assistance in handling active calls for service while the Sheriff’s Office handled the incident.
