CLINTON, ME — A Presque Isle man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95.
Tyler Hewitt, 31, of Presque Isle, was taken into custody this afternoon after Clinton Police received a call about a suspicious person walking on Hill Road.
Clinton officers located Hewitt after he emerged from the woods near Interstate 95.
State Police said Hewitt was driving on a suspended license when he was involved in a fatal crash on the morning of Nov. 25 on Interstate 95 in Clinton.
The crash claimed the life of John Perkins, 38, of Hampden.
Hewitt fled the scene before troopers arrived, police said.
Officers found a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine in a backpack Hewitt was carrying.
Hewitt was charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, and operating after suspension.
