NEW HARTFORD, NY — Three people were arrested on driving while intoxicated charges during a holiday enforcement initiative by the New Hartford Police Department.
The department increased DWI patrols beginning Wednesday targeting impaired drivers.
On Nov. 26 at approximately 9 p.m., officers located a vehicle that had reportedly struck a guard rail on State Route 8 and left the scene.
The vehicle was operated by Samantha Cruikshank, 39, of New Hartford.
Police administered standardized field sobriety tests and determined Cruikshank was intoxicated.
Cruikshank was charged with failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, and felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher.
Cruikshank was processed and released on uniform traffic tickets and will answer the charges in Town of New Hartford Court in December.
On Nov. 27 at approximately 12 a.m., police conducted a vehicle stop on Genesee Street after observing a vehicle and traffic law violation.
The operator was identified as David Marfone, 39, of Kirkland.
Marfone was charged with failure to yield right of way on left turn, driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree for revocation for prior DWI offense, and felony DWI for a previous DWI conviction within 10 years.
Marfone was transported to the Oneida County Jail to be held for arraignment.
On Nov. 27 at approximately 1:30 a.m., police observed a truck enter the rear parking lot of New Hartford High School on Oxford Road and park.
Officers made contact with the operator, identified as Nay Thar, 22, of Utica.
Thar was found to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated and charged with drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, and two counts of driving while intoxicated.
