POWNAL, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a woman on charges of providing false information to police and resisting arrest on Nov. 22.

Elizabeth Rowe, 46, of Bennington, was taken into custody at her residence following an investigation into a criminal incident that occurred several days earlier.

On Nov. 21 at 10:20 p.m., troopers were investigating an incident at the American Legion in Pownal in which a UTV had failed to stop for multiple police units.

During that investigation, troopers spoke with Rowe about the incident.

Police said Rowe provided false information during the conversation in order to steer the direction of the investigation away from the person of interest.

Rowe resisted troopers when they attempted to take her into custody at her residence on Nov. 22, police said.

She was transported to the Shaftsbury Barracks for processing.

Rowe was released on citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on Jan. 12 at 8:30 a.m.
