ST. JOHNSBURY, VT — A woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and drug possession after being found slumped behind the wheel of a running vehicle early Saturday.
Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were on patrol on Eastern Avenue at approximately 1:21 a.m. when they discovered the vehicle.
The operator was identified as Michelle Churchill, 40.
While speaking with Churchill, troopers detected indicators of impairment, according to police.
Further investigation revealed Churchill was in possession of heroin and attempted to hinder the investigation, police said.
Churchill was arrested and transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.
She was charged with DUI-drugs, possession of heroin and impeding.
Churchill was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Feb. 9, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. and was released.
