PENN YAN, NY — Police have arrested a woman on a drug charge following a package theft investigation.
Darcey L. Semmel, 44, of Dundee, was arrested on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
The arrest stems from an incident on June 25 in the village of Penn Yan.
Officers made contact with Semmel after she allegedly stole a package from someone’s porch.
While taking her into custody on that charge, officers found a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance in her possession.
The baggie was sent to the New York State Police Crime Laboratory for testing.
The substance was determined to be methamphetamine.
Semmel was arraigned in Penn Yan Village Court and released.
