ARDSLEY, NY — The New York State Police are investigating the unattended death of a man found unresponsive early this morning at the Ardsley Service Area on I-87.
At about 6:52 a.m., a 911 call was placed after an adult male was discovered unconscious beside his work truck.
Members of News 12 Westchester, who were in the service area reporting on Thanksgiving Week travel conditions, located the individual and immediately began CPR before police arrived.
Troopers arrived shortly later, took over life-saving efforts, and deployed a Division-issued AED, which indicated no shock was advised.
The individual was transported by Ardsley EMS to Westchester Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation indicates the incident is consistent with a natural medical event.
Troop T Troopers, Troop T supervisory personnel, and Troop K Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene and continue to work to determine the circumstances leading up to the medical emergency.
Next of kin notification is underway.
No identifying information will be released until that process is complete.
