Man cited on timber theft charges in Eden

EDEN, VT — Vermont State Police have cited a man accused of illegally harvesting trees from a property on Maple Lane.

Jesse Bacon, 40, of Barton, is charged with felony unlawful mischief and trees and plants trespass.

Police began investigating the theft and damage of timber at the property on Oct. 25.

The property is owned by Sarah and Michael Schifilliti of Eden.

Investigators determined Bacon entered the property without permission and harvested and damaged several trees.

An Acceptable Management Practices Forester with the State of Vermont assisted with the investigation.

Bacon was located at his residence in Barton on Nov. 26 and issued a citation.

He is ordered to appear at Lamoille County Superior Court Criminal Division on Jan. 7, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
