MONTVILLE, CT — A 47-year-old man was arrested on firearm and theft charges following a multi-month investigation into a stolen handgun.
Akeem Morris, of Montville, was taken into custody on Nov. 26.
East Lyme police responded to a report of a stolen firearm on Aug. 26.
Investigators determined a Sig P320 9mm handgun had been taken.
On Nov. 1, Montville police were investigating an assault and threatening with a firearm complaint.
Police obtained a search and arrest warrant for a residence in Montville.
The Southeastern Regional Special Response Team was activated due to the high risk of violence.
The stolen firearm was recovered during the search of the residence.
Morris was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a dangerous weapon, larceny in the fourth degree and stealing a firearm.
He was held on $30,000 bond.
