Man arrested on drug charges in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A 48-year-old man was arrested Nov. 25 following a narcotics investigation by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force.

Angel Lebron, of Poughkeepsie, was taken into custody on North Clinton Street after allegedly resisting arrest and attempting to gain possession of a Drug Task Force agent’s duty weapon, according to a news release from the district attorney’s office.

The arrest followed an investigation that began after agents developed intelligence about a suspected dealer selling narcotics from an apartment on Main Street in the city.

Drug Task Force agents conducted multiple purchases of narcotics from Lebron during the investigation, which led to a search warrant for his residence at 489 Main Street and his vehicle, according to the release.

At the time of his arrest, Lebron was found to be in possession of large quantities of cocaine, according to the release.

Following the arrest, members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit, the Poughkeepsie SWAT team and Drug Task Force agents executed the search warrant at Lebron’s residence.

During the search, agents seized large quantities of cocaine, drug packaging materials, U.S. currency, digital scales, ammunition, a gun holster and other items associated with the sale and distribution of narcotics, according to the release.

Lebron was charged with attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Multiple sales charges related to the case are pending against Lebron, according to the release.
