EXETER, NH — A woman has been arrested in connection with the February death of an 88-year-old Exeter woman, authorities announced Tuesday.
Danielle Kelsen, 55, of Exeter, was taken into custody in Southwest Harbor, Maine, and charged with second degree murder in the death of her mother-in-law, Janet Kelsen, according to Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Exeter Police Chief Stephan R. Poulin.
Kelsen is accused of recklessly causing Janet Kelsen’s death under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life by inflicting blunt head trauma, in violation of RSA 630:1-b, I(b).
She has also been charged with wiretapping and eavesdropping through intercepting oral communications in violation of RSA 570-A:2, for allegedly using an electronic device to intercept oral communications between herself and Janet Kelsen.
The Maine State Police assisted in the arrest.
Following a preliminary hearing on being a fugitive from justice, Kelsen is scheduled for a hearing on extradition to New Hampshire before the Ellsworth District Court in Ellsworth, Maine, on Dec. 10.
After extradition to New Hampshire, she is expected to be arraigned at the 10th Circuit Court – Brentwood District Division at a date and time to be determined by the court.
