VIRGIL, NY — A 34-year-old Auburn man was arrested on sex abuse charges following an investigation into an incident at a business in the town.
Joel L. Shattuck was arrested at 12:24 p.m. Nov. 24 and charged with second-degree sex abuse and forcible touching, both misdemeanors.
Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office received a report Nov. 15 of sex abuse allegations that occurred at a business in the town.
The investigation revealed that Shattuck had subjected one victim to inappropriate sexual contact at the location, according to the sheriff’s office.
The victim was known to Shattuck.
Shattuck was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. Nov. 24.
He was remanded to the Cortland County Jail on bail.
Shattuck’s next court appearance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 26 in Virgil Town Court.
