EAST LYME, CT — A man was arrested after allegedly chasing another driver through town, forcing the victim off the road multiple times before the pursuit ended in a crash.
East Lyme police responded to the area of Black Point Road at 8:30 a.m. for a report of a victim being chased in his vehicle by another man.
The victim struck a fence and drove off-road at times while trying to flee from the accused, according to police.
While trying to avoid striking pedestrians, the victim’s vehicle crashed into rocks on Beach Avenue and became disabled.
Once the victim’s car was unable to free from the rocks, the other driver approached the victim’s car and began trying to open the door, police said.
Officers arrived and took Michael Bonelli, 37, of East Lyme, into custody.
Bonelli was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, following with the intent to harass, breach of peace and possession of a controlled substance.
He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
