ST. JOHNSBURY, VT — A motorist was cited for gross negligent operation after driving westbound in the eastbound lane of U.S. Route 2 on Nov. 25.
Vermont State Police troopers on routine patrol observed the vehicle traveling in the wrong lane at approximately 12:52 p.m.
The driver was heading into oncoming traffic, nearly causing multiple crashes, police said.
Troopers conducted a traffic stop and identified the operator as Willard Nicholas, 68, of Danville.
Nicholas was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on Dec. 29 at 8:30 a.m.
