GRAND ISLAND, NY — The Grand Island Fire Company extinguished a vehicle fire on Interstate 190 northbound just before 4 p.m. today.
Crews arrived to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames just north of the South Grand Island Bridge on I-190.
Engine 3 initiated the primary fire attack while Engine 2 provided a secondary water source to extinguish the fuel-driven fire.
Engine 4 responded to support water supply operations.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.
Traffic lanes were reopened shortly after the fire was extinguished.
New York State Troopers from Troop T and the New York State Thruway Authority assisted at the scene and helped mitigate runoff from the incident.
