ST. JOHNSBURY, VT — A single-vehicle crash temporarily closed U.S. Route 5 early Sunday morning.
State Police responded to the crash at 1:09 a.m. near Mount Pisgah Road.
Jonathan Whittemore, 18, of Lyndon, was driving a 2007 Audi A4 north on U.S. Route 5 when the vehicle failed to navigate a corner, according to police.
The Audi crashed into a guardrail and came to rest in the middle of the roadway.
Whittemore sustained minor injuries and was transported by Calex ambulance to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital for treatment.
He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The vehicle sustained substantial damage.
Snow was falling at the time of the crash and road conditions were snowy.
U.S. Route 5 was temporarily closed until the roadway was cleared.
St. Johnsbury Fire Department assisted at the scene.
