NAPLES, ME — A 21-year-old man was seriously injured after his pickup truck struck a utility pole and tree Saturday afternoon.
Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office and the Naples Fire Department, responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision at approximately 2:09 p.m. in the area of 42 Thompson’s Point Road.
First responders located a heavily damaged 2002 Chevrolet Silverado that had been traveling southbound on Thompson’s Point Road.
The vehicle left the roadway, struck a Central Maine Power utility pole, and subsequently collided with a large tree.
The operator and sole occupant, Ethan Crockett, 21, of Naples, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Maine Medical Center for treatment.
Preliminary investigation indicates that speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the crash.
Thompson’s Point Road was closed to all vehicular traffic for approximately two hours while emergency crews and Central Maine Power personnel worked to secure the scene and restore power.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
