MOUNT VERNON, NY — A 32-year-old man has been charged with first-degree manslaughter following a fatal stabbing Friday morning.
Mount Vernon police responded to a report of a menacing incident at approximately 8:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Stevens Avenue.
Officers arrived and arrested the suspect at the scene before finding a 68-year-old man inside the residence suffering from a stab wound.
The victim was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition but later died from his injuries.
Astillo Sylvain, 32, of Mount Vernon, who lived at the same location as the victim, was charged with manslaughter in the first degree following an investigation by the Detective Division.
